EXCLUSIVE: Vardhaan Puri recalls grandfather Amrish Puri guiding Priyanka Chopra in cinema; says, “She looked up to him as a father”

Priyanka Chopra recently took to Instagram to show her support for Vardhaan Puri’s upcoming film, Bobby And Rishi Ki Love Story. Sharing a heartfelt post, the global star extended her best wishes to Vardhaan and his team. This gesture left the young actor emotional, as it not only marked a special moment in his career but also reminded him of the deep bond between Priyanka and his late grandfather, the legendary Amrish Puri.

Vardhaan recalled how Priyanka’s journey in Bollywood began with guidance from Amrish Puri. Her father, Dr. Ashok Chopra, and Amrish Puri had met at an army camp, where Dr. Chopra expressed Priyanka’s desire to enter the film industry. Recognizing her potential, Amrish Puri welcomed them into his home and mentored her at the start of her career.

Speaking about their bond, Vardhaan said, “Priyanka Chopra, at the start of her career, was very young and had just won Miss World. She wanted direction in cinema, and my grandfather guided her. She was a fantastic student—so attentive, taking notes, juggling dance and acting classes, and always sure of her dreams. My grandfather treated her like his own daughter, and she looked up to him as a father. They worked together in The Hero: Love Story of a Spy, Aitraaz, and Mujhse Shaadi Karogi.”

Now, as Vardhaan embarks on his own journey in Bollywood, Priyanka’s support means the world to him. He also shares a close bond with her mother, Dr. Madhu Chopra, whom he considers like his own mother. “Her blessings are so special,” he added, grateful for the encouragement from someone he has admired for years.
